SCHEDULE & COMMITMENT:  The spring 2010 outdoor season is from whenever the snow melts & we are allowed on the fields through approx. May 31.  The fee is $125.00 per player.  March is a practice month, and depending on coach's preference, there may be as many as 3 practices per week during March (typically 1 or 2 weeknights plus 1 weekend).  Practices & home games take place at multiple sites in the greater Reisterstown area.  We cannot provide any more specifics until team, coach, & field assignments are confirmed in early March.  Games begin in April, and schedules are not published until about a week before the first game. Typically half the games are held on either Saturdays or Sundays, and the other half on random weeknights.  This is a travel league for all ages (except K & 1st) with games throughout the Baltimore Metro area, and requires a commitment to attend practices & games.  In fairness to the coaches who put in so much volunteer time, and to their teammates - we ask all parents & players to consider this time commitment seriously so practices & games will be well attended & productive.

EQUIPMENT:  Girls must have a regulation stick, mouth guard, & safety approved protective eyewear.  Boys must have a regulation stick, mouth guard, safety approved helmet, gloves, arm pads, shoulder pads, rib pads, protective cup.  Uniform shorts are provided for players to keep. Uniform jerseys are league property and must be returned at season's end.  Play It Again Sports in Ellicott City is a good source for new & used gear.

AGE PLACEMENT:   Two birth years are grouped together, mostly by grade, and designated as BEGINNERS (K & 1st grade), TYKERS (2nd & 3rd grade), LIGHTNING (4th & 5th grade), Midgets (6th & 7th grade), JUNIORS (8th grade).  Due to recent league rule changes & actual birth dates, there may be some individual exceptions to this, based on prior year's placements.

TEAM SELECTION:  All skill levels are accepted - beginner through advanced.  TYKERS - Each team is assigned a proportionate number of experienced and beginner players.  All players in the older age groups will be placed at their appropriate skill level after evaluations, since they participate in A, B, or C level league play.  The evaluation process consists of one or more January & February sessions allowing all players to tryout for our top level teams.  All registered players will be notified of their evaluation times.  There will be skill drills and scrimmages run by the coaches & other evaluators in each age group which ultimately determines player team placement.  We make every attempt to have fair & thorough evaluations.

BEGINNER'S BASICS:  This popular program is for K & 1st grade only (no pre-K).  The fee is $75.00.  It runs from March 28 through approx. May 23. It is a non-contact program designed to introduce young players to the fundamental skills of lacrosse.  All activity is in the Reisterstown area; there is no travel.  No equipment is necessary. Sticks & uniform shirts will be provided.  Registration is by mail only, so click on the "pdf" text area below, print out & mail the form by March 15.  We are usually able to accept all players who register prior to the start of the program.  We hope to have enough participants for separate boys & girls divisions, as in prior years.  So pass the word to any friends or schoolmates who may be interested in the fun, fitness, & skill development this program provides.  Primary practice & game activities take place between 12 & 6 on Sunday afternoons (you may have a game or practice at any interval within this time frame).  There may be some optional practices & clinics offered, or make-up games at other times if needed.  This is the most specific information available until schedules are developed in late March.  All registrants will be notified as soon as schedules are complete, so please be patient.

Our goal for this program is to select teams that are comparable in age & ability so the games are equally fun & challenging.  In most cases, players can be assigned with their friends unless this causes a competitive imbalance as determined by the coaches.  There will be a short evaluation process on the first day with stick distribution prior to team assignment.  Parents will have the opportunity on that day to review placement requests with the coaches.  We always need volunteers, so please consider coaching a team. At this age expert lacrosse experience is not needed - just a willingness to be there as needed & contribute to a positive experience. You will love it!
